Trip to the Leonardo da Vinci Science Center

A fantastic and thrilling adventure – that is how a trip to the Leonardo da Vinci Science Center in Podzamcze and the Magia Karmelu confectionery manufactory in Kielce can be summed up. The trip was attended on 11 May 2023 by a group of 30 winners of the Ostrowiec Festival of Creativity from Public Elementary School No. 14 in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. 

The trip began with a visit to the "Magia Karmelu in Kielce where, during the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to witness the traditional and unchanged method of creating caramel products that have been practiced for centuries. They learned about the entire process, starting from pouring hot caramel onto a stone table, shaping and coloring the sweets, to packaging the final product. Each caramel is a small handicraft with a unique flavor and a unique design. 

At the end of the workshop, all the participants made their own large lollipop and received a "Diploma of Caramel Maker". The workshop was a perfect combination of learning and fun.

Then, at the Leonardo da Vinci Science Center in Podzamcze, the participants saw the multimedia exhibition "Man-an Extraordinary Machine," which made them aware of how complex and demanding the human body is. Engaging stations set up at the center allowed the participants to learn through personal experiences and draw conclusions. 

At the end of the exhausting day, the participants headed to the Da Vinci restaurant located in the 17th century Manor House of the Chęciny Starostes, which is surrounded by ponds and a beautiful Italian garden, as well as the Jan III Sobieski Triumphal Gate. In such a picturesque natural setting, they enjoyed a meal before heading back home. 

The trip was a prize for winning first place in the Ostrowiec Festival of Creativity and was organized within the framework of the Academy of Modern Junior which is part of the “Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski – City ReNEWal” project benefiting from a grant of EUR 2,974,766 received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Funds.
