International Meeting in Warsaw: Cooperation for Local Development
On November 18–19, 2024, a conference summarizing the implementation of the Local Development Program was held in Warsaw, organized by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy. The event brought together representatives from Polish and Norwegian municipalities, as well as experts from the OECD and the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS). Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski was represented by Anna Woś and Tomasz Gębka, who participated in numerous panels and had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the municipality of Sogndal – Ingrid and Swen.
The conference, held at the Ministry's building on Wspólna Street, served as a platform for exchanging experiences and summarizing the results of the program supported by the Norwegian Funds. Key agenda points included presentations of best practices, discussions on future directions for cooperation, and reflections on the main challenges in implementing local projects.
Anna Woś, who took part in thematic panels, emphasized the importance of bilateral international cooperation, particularly in the context of supporting sustainable development in medium-sized cities. Tomasz Gębka participated in discussions on modernizing local infrastructure and tackling poverty. The meeting with representatives from Sogndal was an opportunity to exchange insights on local development strategies and innovative solutions in municipal management.
During the event, the importance of Polish-Norwegian cooperation was highlighted, with specific projects cited as examples of tangible benefits for local communities. The meeting concluded with a symbolic adoption of a declaration to continue the partnership in future editions of the program, followed by a formal dinner where participants strengthened relationships and explored further cooperation opportunities.
Through participation in such initiatives, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski has the opportunity to draw on the best international practices, enhancing local initiatives and creating a foundation for even greater collaboration in the future.
