DEBATES ON ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN OSTROWIEC ŚWIĘTOKRZYSKI

The work on preparing the Environmental Education Program for the city of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski until 2030 has entered the next phase, the key element of which is public participation and a widely understood analysis of the city's eco-educational potential, which will serve to develop a reliable diagnosis of the state of environmental awareness of the residents of our city, which will translate into the preparation of a schedule of effective educational activities.

Accordingly, five debates were held on 8-9 November 2022 with various groups of stakeholders, who discussed the current, as well as the future shape and scope of environmental education in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.

The debates were attended by a total of 136 people – representatives of the following groups of stakeholders of the Environmental Education Program, who are taking, or may take in the future, actions to shape pro-environmental attitudes of the residents of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, i.e.:

• principals of educational institutions – kindergartens, primary school and secondary schools,
• school environmental education coordinators;
• primary school teachers of grades 4-8, secondary school teachers, university lecturers;
• representatives of NGOs, youth leaders from secondary schools, media representatives;
• representatives of municipal and district units, as well as representatives of multifamily property managers;
• kindergarten teachers, primary school teachers of grades 1-3.

The discussion covered the following topics: the scope of environmental education carried out in the city, educational methods and channels, the preparation of urban space for shaping pro-environmental attitudes of the residents of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and the eco-educational potential of our city.
