SURVEY OF TEACHERS' ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AS PART OF THE WORK ON THE "ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF OSTROWIEC ŚWIĘTOKRZYSKI UNTIL 2030"

In connection with the ongoing work on the preparation of the document titled “Environmental Education Program for the city of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski until 2030”, as part of the implementation of the task titled: “Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski – City ReNEWal” implemented within the framework of the Local Development Program, from the funds of the MF EEA 2014-2021, on the basis of contract No. 15/2021/RL, a survey of the environmental awareness of teachers, including awareness of the responsibility for shaping pro-environmental attitudes among children and young people, has been conducted recently. 

 The state of teachers' environmental awareness was analyzed by four thematic blocks: protection of the atmosphere, protection and sustainable management of water resources, rational waste management, and protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

The survey was conducted by a professional team of employees of ATMOTERM SA. which is working on the preparation of the aforementioned Program on behalf of the Municipality.

The survey took the form of a 15-minute, individual and completely anonymous meeting with teachers of educational institutions in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, i.e. eight public kindergartens, eight public elementary schools, high school Liceum Ogólnokształcące nr I im. Stanisława Staszica in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, high school Liceum Ogólnokształcące nr III im. Władysława Broniewskiego in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski as well as lecturers of the university Akademia Nauk Stosowanych im. Józefa Gołuchowskiego in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.

The group of teachers included in the survey was diverse in terms of subject taught, teaching level and professional experience. In total, more than 100 people were covered by the survey.

The meetings were very positively evaluated by our Contractor. The consultants were warmly welcomed in the educational institutions in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, and they were impressed by the openness, willingness to cooperate and commitment of the management and teachers. In addition, the content value of the meetings was highly rated. The conclusions of this survey will provide excellent material for the development of the city's eco-education potential and a schedule for effective environmental education activities.
