School Civic Budget of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski Gains Momentum
The School Civic Budget of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski engages students in practical civic education by giving them the opportunity to propose, develop and select projects that respond to the needs of their schools. In February 2026, workshops were held in eight public primary schools, where students worked on their own ideas and prepared projects for implementation. Young people proposed, among other things, spaces for relaxation during breaks, quiet areas, murals and new ways of developing school spaces. The initiative demonstrates that students can effectively identify the needs of their surroundings and come up with creative solutions. The next stage of the programme will be school-wide voting, in which students will decide which projects will be implemented. The School Civic Budget is an important lesson in democracy, responsibility and having a real say in the environment in which young people live and learn.
