Senior Citizens’ Council – Another Step Towards Intergenerational Dialogue
Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski is taking steps to establish a Senior Citizens’ Council, which is intended to provide an important voice for older residents on matters concerning the city’s life and development. The initiative of Mayor Artur Łakomiec continues the city’s efforts to encourage residents to take an active role in local government, following the successful establishment of the Youth Council of the City. Public consultations were a key part of the process, giving seniors an opportunity to share their opinions and expectations regarding the future Council. The meeting at the Ostrowiecki Browar Kultury demonstrated strong interest in the initiative and seniors’ willingness to actively participate in decisions affecting their local community. The Council is intended to have a consultative and advisory role, with its views taken into account when planning the city’s most important activities. The initiative aims to strengthen intergenerational dialogue and create a meaningful space for seniors to help shape the future of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
