At a meeting of members of the Youth City Council Academy with the Chairwoman of the City Council Irena Renduda – Dudek, Chairman of the Poviat Council Mariusz Pasternak and Poviat Board Member Agnieszka Rogalinska, awards were presented to the participants of the Academy of the City Youth Council who wrote the winning dissertations in the competition under the title “Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski – my future.” The goal of the competition was to write a dissertation in two versions: in English and in Polish, addressing issues from one of three thematic areas: education, ecology or entrepreneurship in the near future. The dissertation had to be about Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and the immediate area. The three winners will take part in a trip to the Norwegian city of Sogndal, with which our city has signed a bilateral cooperation agreement. In addition to the aforementioned three, the competition committee included the head of the Promotion and Social Communication Department, Anna Woś, and 4th State Primary School’s English teacher Ms. Ewelina Jurasz.
During the meeting, the youngsters showered the guests with dozens of questions on the subject of the functioning of local government. Chairwoman Irena Renduda – Dudek talked about how to maintain discipline at sessions, while chairman Mariusz Pasternak taught patience and presented the foundation of local government work, which is first and foremost to serve the people, the residents you represent. The youngsters' questions also addressed the stress of responsibility and decision-making. Councilwoman Agnieszka Rogalinska described her experience here. Many of the questions that followed were about elections and the functioning of the Youth City Council. It is worth mentioning at this point that both the new edition of the Civic Budget and the Youth City Council were initiated last year by Mayor Jarosław Górczynski.
